The Food Bank & Pantry

Cross Road Food Bank is divided in two areas, Food Bank and Food Pantry.  The Food Bank is opened to organization as well as churches that have a feeding program. Currently 74 organizations are register with the Food Bank. We ensure that these programs have enough food to meet the client’s needs. The organization/churches are able to make weekly pick-ups to guarantee their ability to provide food to anyone in need. If your agency is interested in applying for assistance please contact the office for an application. When completed, fax back to our office and our staff will contact you as soon as possible.

The Food Pantry prepares boxes and distributes food to families and individuals in need. Clients receive a food amount depending on the family size. Visits are spaced at one month intervals unless mitigating circumstances arise.

Social Outreach.

Cross Road assists other food pantries when their supplies run low. We also counsel and refer clients to agencies able to help in areas we may not be able to. We are currently focused on assisting families with school age children. Our goal is to bridge the gap between having and not having enough food to last until the next pay-period or shopping day. Though hidden, Broward County has a serious hunger problem. Many law abiding hardworking parents find themselves forced to make unhealthy choices between buying food and paying household demands. Underemployed, unemployed, disabled, elderly on fixed income and displaced homemakers face health threatening decisions without help.

Community Involvement.

Cross Road welcomes volunteer assistance from the community. We also welcome Broward County High School Students wishing to earn their Community Service Hours prior to graduation. We are a smoke free, safe environment. For more information contact our office.

Food Drives and Coin Drives.

Cross Road initiates annual drives to assist with food supplies. Coin Drives are a source for purchasing these items. The children of Broward County Schools have produced phenomenal results in their determination to help others. We are very proud of each and every one of them.

Our agency exist because, a caring aspect of Broward County supports the effort. South Florida is one of the most affluent communities in the United States yet, 44% of the children living here are surviving at or below federal poverty guidelines. Cross Road is determine to fight this problem, each and every day. No child, living in the richest society on earth, should face a day with hunger a constant companion.

To fight hunger, we need help. Please join us in any way you can to help eradicate hunger, especially in the children of Broward County. It can be accomplished when a strong community bands together.
